New Year Festival Brings Together Families for Prayers and Festivities
JAMSHEDPUR – The Bengali community in Jamshedpur as well as nearby areas ushered in the new year with joyous celebrations on Saturday.
Known as Poila Boishakh or Pohela Baisakh, the festival is observed by Bengali communities in West Bengal, Tripura, Jharkhand, and Assam.
On this auspicious day, members of the Bengali community traditionally clean their homes, don new clothes, offer prayers, and prepare a variety of dishes.
As part of the festivities, men and women in Jamshedpur gathered at places of worship to pray for the happiness and prosperity of their families.

There was a big line of worshippers at Kali Bari Mandir near Loyola School Jamshedpur, as well as other temples of the city.
In addition to the religious observances, community members took the opportunity to extend new year’s greetings to their friends and neighbors.
The vibrant celebrations were a reminder of the strong bonds and shared heritage that unite the Bengali community in Jamshedpur and beyond.
