TSF signs MoU with Sri Sathya Sai Health and Education Trust and Aarogya Vahini Trust to strengthen Public Health Services

Jamshedpur: Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) signed two MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with – Sri Sathya Sai Health and Education Trust (SSSHET) and Aarogya Vahini Trust (AVT) aimed to enhance public health services across Jamshedpur.

The collaboration will amplify the implementation and outreach of all public health initiatives in Jharkhand. 

Chanakya Chaudhary, Director of TSF and Vice President Corporate Services, Tata Steel and Sourav Roy, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), TSF, Dr Anuj Bhatnagar, Head of Public Health, TSF and Amrita Ganguly, Head of Partnerships, TSF were present at the event.

The event was attended by the Dr C Sreenivas, Chairman SSSHET, Amrita Roy Mukherjee , Chairperson of Aarogya Vahini Trust

Chanakya Chaudhary said, “The signing of these two significant MoU come at an interesting juncture, as we recalibrate our approach to public health in Eastern India and become more agile with suitable linkages for effective health interventions”.

Sourav Roy said, “I take this opportunity to thank Sri Sathya Sai Health and Education Trust and Aarogya Vahini Trust for reposing trust in us and enabling an ecosystem for change. This calls for more emphasis on strengthening healthcare services underscored by aspects of accessibility, strengthening of infrastructure and monitoring for overall success, for everyone to benefit from it”.

While the MoU with SSSHET will enable free treatment and diagnosis of maternal and child health; the MoU with AVT will enforce a health-camp like module, with modern amenities in mobile units. The staff at SSSHET and MANSI+ staff of TSF will work in cohorts to ensure the implementation at ground level.

Joining in the conversation on effective public health measures, Chairman of Sri Sathya Sai Health and Education Trust, Dr C Sreenivas said, “This MoU was long overdue, and we are overwhelmed that this has finally happened. It is like coming together different individuals united by one goal – of providing quality healthcare to everyone – within the communities and beyond.”

Tata Steel Foundation’s scope of association with Aarogya Vahini Trust lies in the detection and referral of patients with – non-communicable diseases, paediatric congenital heart diseases, cataract screening and surgeries, common medical conditions, basic primary healthcare, ANC/PNC care, paediatric heart surgeries and awareness sessions.

Chairperson of Aarogya Vahini Trust, Mrs Amrita Roy Mukherjee added her thoughts on the collaboration and commented, “I am overjoyed that these three organizations have come together to implement necessary health interventions and work towards the underserved people of the society.

We started Aarogya Vahini Trust in 2016 and it makes me immensely happy to see young brave hearts bracing for development and change in the society.”
