Jamshedpur to observe World Tuberculosis Day on March 23

Several competitions lined up at TB Hospital at Sakchi, programs to begin with awareness rally

Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum District Health Department will organize a number of programs on World Tuberculosis Day on Thursday, March 23, 2024. Although World Tuberculosis Day is observed on March 24 every year, this year Sarhul festival falls on March 24 and a state public holiday has been declared necessitating a change in the day to observe it.

At the TV Hospital in Sakchi, a number of competitions will be held to observe the World Tuberculosis Day.

Preparations are being made to ensure that the day sees a big participation from various stakeholders.

Health department officials said that the annual World Tuberculosis Day is observed on March 24, but this year it will be observed on March 23 due to the holiday.

An important programme and rally to promote awareness of the disease is being planned by the Government TB Hospital in Sakchi, and it will include schoolchildren, medical professionals, and Inner Wheel Club members.

There will also be a quiz contest with prizes for the winners and a lecture where several medical professionals will discuss the issues relating to elimination of TB.

Information about the programs was shared by the health officials during a press conference on Wednesday.
