Tata Steel’s Noamundi Iron Mine awarded Bala Gulshan Tandon Award of Excellence

In July 2022, the Noamundi Iron Mine of Tata Steel was also accorded 5-Star rating for sustainable development for the sixth consecutive year

Jamshedpur: The Noamundi Iron Mine (NIM) of Tata Steel has been awarded the Bala Gulshan Tandon Award of Excellence for the year 2021-22 for best overall performance by the Federation of Indian Mineral Industries (FIMI).

The award was given during the 56th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of FIMI on September 2, 2022 in New Delhi.

Shirish Shekhar, Chief, Noamundi, Tata Steel and Kamlesh Mahato, President, Noamundi Mazdoor Union, received the award on behalf of Tata Steel from Alok Tandon, Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Mines. During the award ceremony, Shirish Shekhar, Chief, Noamundi, Tata Steel was also honoured and presented with a certificate for his significant contribution towards assisting the mine in achieving excellence through sustainable mining.

It was on the basis of assessment and presentation, followed by the decision of the Jury Committee for FIMI Awards 2021-22, NIM was selected for the Bala Gulshan Tandon Excellence Award for the year 2021-22.

It may be noted here that in the month of July 2022, the Noamundi Iron Mine of Tata Steel was also accorded 5-Star rating for sustainable development for the sixth consecutive year.
