Incessant rains make water level rise in Kharkai and Subarnrekha

Low-lying areas face risk of inundation

Jamshedpur: Incessant rains for the last two days have made the water level in Kharkai and Subarnrekha rivers.

On the other hand, there have been heavy rains in Odisha too and owing to that Byangbil Dam gates too have been opened releasing more water.

The low-lying areas of Jamshedpur, especially Bagbera and Shashtri Nagar are once again facing the risk of flooding .

The water level of Kharkai river has been rising continuously. Jamshedpur district administration and NDRF have gone on an alert mode.

On Thursday, Zilla Parishad member Kishore Yadav visited the low-lying areas of Bagbera.

He took stock of the situation and assessed the condition of the people living along the river banks in the area.

For now, Kharkai river is still flowing below the danger mark.

However, if the rains continue, the low-lying areas of the city may have to face floods again.

Recently, owing to to the floods, many families had to suffer losses. Kishore Yadav has advised the people of the area to be careful keeping in mind the rising water in the rivers.
