Jamshedpur advocates protest against JNAC and parking contractor, block road

Blockade lifted after police assurance, decision on parking fee now with Admn

Jamshedpur: The advocates of Jamshedpur blocked the main road near East Singhbhum district headquarters in Sakchi to oppose the parking contractor and JNAC. They were protesting parking fee collection and alleged misbehaviour of parking contractor with an advocate.

The road blockade was lifted on the assurance of officer-in-charge of Sakchi police station. The agitating advocates made it clear that the parking contractor or JNAC should not collect any parking fee from advocates till the DC issues a directive on this.

The controversy was sparked off after the parking contractor Shibu Kumar, allegedly, had an altercation with an advocate. The advocates alleged that the parking contractor misbehaved with the advocates.

Soon the incident sparked off a major ruckus and protest. The advocates opened a front against the parking contractor and blocked the main road.

The parking contractor’s father too is a practising advocate.

The road blockade was removed on the assurance of Sakchi officer-in-charge.

The advocates have made it clear that they would not pay parking fee on the court premises. Now the ball is in the district administration’s court. The administration would have to decide whether parking fee would be collected for parking outside the court premises or not.
