Communication is the key

The present Indian government is trying to change some age old systems and laws. Whether it’s correct or incorrect is definitely a concern but the bigger concern is how the changes are being implemented.

Without taking the stake holders into confidence, such variations or modification have create a chaos, as is evident from recent history. We have seen this in CAA case and same is being replicated in farm bill 2020.

In democracy, debates and discussion are the key to solving any problem. If the government has good intentions at heart, even then, they owe an explanation to the public.

During this pandemic, when parliament is not in session, it is more important to have information dissemination mechanism be given high priority.

As far as communication is concerned, the government looks weak. Without clarity, even the right intention can be misunderstood. So the government must take it seriously.

We have good example of education ministry where they have managed to take out NEP 2020 without any major controversy. Conversation takes nothing but brings out various dimensions of the law and its implementation and moreover it answers the questions of the dissenting.

The government may claim its innocence but any sensible and unbiased citizen of the country will accept that government requires to take proper steps to listen to the voices of the farmers, and solve their misunderstandings and clarify them if the government has the welfare of the people at heart.
