Surprise Inspection Raid in Ghaghidih Central Jail

Jamshedpur: A joint team of district administration officials and the district police officers raided the Ghaghidih Central Jail Wednesday morning. The raid was conducted on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner Suraj Kumar.

The raiding team included ADM (law & order) Nand Kishore Lal, Dhalbhum SDO Nitish Kumar Singh, all Dy SPs, Jamshedpur CO, JNAC and MNAC Special Officers.

The police officers and jawans searched each cell intensively inside the jail. They found a knife-like implement made out of a spoon, a few match-boxes and tobacco packets.

The surprise raid caused a scamper among the inmates of the jail. The prisoners were not being allowed to move from one ward to another ward either.

Even the jail administration was not aware of the surprise raid to be conducted by the administration. The jail administration got the information when the raid started. Later, the jail officials also arrived.

No information about any anomaly has been made available at the official level yet.

It may be noted that a similar surprise raid was also made on Wednesday itself in Seraikela Jail too. A large number of officials and police officers were a part of the raid team. However, the raiding team did not get anything significant during the 3-hour-long raid.

Some magazines, papers, match-boxes etc were reportedly found during the raid. The SDO said that the raid was conducted on the instructions of the DC.
