Locals oppose construction of water tower under Amrit Yojana in Adityapur

Jamshedpur: Local residents of Adityapur Municipal Corporation are opposing construction of a water tower in a ground situated between ward no. 28 and 26. The locals staged a demonstration and forced the workers to stop work.

RIT police reached the site and then Seraikela-Kharsawan SDO, SDPO, Gamharia CO, BDO and other government officers also arrived there.

The locals told them that they would not allow the construction of the water tower to continue till the court verdict comes.

Construction of the water tower has been stopped for now.

The locals say that the matter is sub juice as the land ownership case is being heard by the court. Azad sporting Club and Housing Board are the two parties in the case. They claim that since the matter is sub judice, the board cannot issue an NOC.

They said that the government has not considered all facts before launching the Amrit Yojana, under which that water tower is to be constructed.

They claimed that the site is used by the local children for sports and any construction on the site would cause problems for them.
