Golmuri Police Lines ASI shoots himself dead

Revolver used in shooting was not service revolver, domestic quarrel indicated as reason

Jamshedpur: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), deployed in Golmuri Police Lines, has allegedly shot himself into head.

Initial investigations have revealed that the revolver used in the shooting was not service revolver allotted to him, but was a pistol allegedly licensed in Nalanda. He died as the result of gun-shot. He has been identified as Tarun Pandey.

Initial information says that the ASI used to live on the 3rd floor of a building in Police Flats with his wife.

Earlier, he was a constable and was recently promoted to the ASI post. He was working in his new assignment. He was married in last June month.

Tarun Pandey was also a very good sportsman and sports was the reason he was recruited by the police department.

On Monday, he was at home and it is learnt that he allegedly might have had some dispute with his wife.

During domestic arguments, he allegedly took out his service revolver and shot himself into head.

After hearing the gun-shot, his wife started shouting for help. The neighbours soon rushed in and took him to TMH. The doctors declared him brought dead.

The ASI had allegedly shot himself in head and as a result he could not be saved.

Golmuri Police are investigating the case.

After receiving information, the SSP and City SP as well as all other senior police officers reached the place of occurrence and are interrogating his wife.

The Sergeant major of Golmuri Police lines is on quarantine and as a result there is an air of uncertainty in the Police Lines.

The police are investigating the case. They are looking into all possible angles, especially the one relating to the use of a pistol not belonging to him by an ASI. The reason for the shooting too is not yet clear and the police are still investigating the case. They are yet to reach any conclusion.
