Tata Steel Launches New Squash Facility and Sports Hostel at JRD Tata Sports Complex

CEO & MD Inaugurates World-Class Squash Court, Breaks Ground for Expanded Sports Hostel

Tata Steel has inaugurated a new squash facility at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur, designed to international standards, and has also broken ground for an expanded sports hostel to accommodate more athletes and trainees from various disciplines.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel has reiterated its commitment to the promotion of sports by inaugurating a new squash facility at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on April 1, 2024.

The new facility, one of its kind in the city, will provide access to the general community and features a court designed according to the World Squash Federation (WSF) guidelines.

The squash court boasts a size of 6.4m x 9.75m, a clear height of 5.65m, and an illumination level of 1000 Lux.

CEO & Managing Director’s Vision for Sporting Excellence

CEO & Managing Director emphasized Tata Steel’s consistent efforts to raise the bar for sporting excellence and expressed pride in the company’s contribution to the field.

He expressed hope that the new addition will strengthen the company’s legacy and prove instrumental in nurturing budding talents and revitalizing the enthusiasm for sports in the community.

The squash court features technical specifications such as imported Hard Maple wood flooring, a WSF-certified "BounceWell" / "Rebound" Hard Plaster system, and a free-standing "Clear Tough" glass back wall system.

Introductory Offers and Subscription Rates

To encourage greater participation, Tata Steel has introduced a special early bird offer for the initial three months, with subscription rates ranging from Rs. 400 to Rs. 3,600 for monthly to annual memberships.

Standard rates will be applicable after the introductory period, ranging from Rs. 500 to Rs. 4,800 for various subscription durations.

Expansion of Sports Hostel

In addition to the new squash facility, CEO & MD also broke ground for a new sports hostel at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.

The expansion will increase the hostel’s capacity from 32 to 66, facilitating the creation of separate wings for boys and girls, as well as minor and adult cadets.

The new hostel will accommodate trainees and athletes from archery, sport climbing, athletics, and football.
