Yet another unfortunate incident in West Singhbhum district results in a villager’s death due to an IED trap set by Naxalites, intended to target local law enforcement.

CHAIBASA – A grim incident occurred in West Singhbhum district, when an unsuspecting villager fell victim to an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by Naxalites.

The IED was believed to be set as a trap for police, tragically claiming the life of an innocent resident instead. The incident transpired approximately 5 kilometers from the Luiya camp in the Naxal-affected area of the Tonto police station.

The incident occurred at 10:00 am on Wednesday, but the local law enforcement was only informed on Thursday. Immediately after receiving the news, they promptly dispatched to the location to recover the body.

The victim, Kande Laguri, a 50-year-old resident of Luiya village in the Naxal-affected Tonto police jurisdiction, was reportedly in the forest gathering leaves when he accidentally triggered the IED pressure bomb. The powerful explosion claimed both of Laguri’s legs, resulting in his instantaneous death at the scene.

On last May 19 too, a 14-year-old boy named Nara Koda was killed by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Rengadahatu, a village located in the Naxalite-affected region of West Singhbhum district.
