Dial-112 Response Time Averages 8 Minutes 42 Seconds in August

Jamshedpur Police Resolve All 1,746 Emergency Calls

Key Points:

  • All August complaints on Dial-112 fully resolved by police
  • Service led to 17 FIRs and two unnatural death cases
  • SSP Ehtesham Waquarib reviews response system regularly

JAMSHEDPUR – The Dial-112 emergency service has continued to prove effective across East Singhbhum district. Officials said the service handled all complaints received during August.

According to police, a total of 1,746 complaints were logged on Dial-112 last month. All of these complaints were resolved, the department said.

The complaints led to registration of 17 FIRs during the same period. Two unnatural death cases were also recorded based on calls received.

Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Ehtesham Waquarib is overseeing efforts to strengthen the response system. Police said the emergency response mechanism is being made faster and more accountable under his leadership.

The average response time from complaint to arrival at the spot stood at 8 minutes and 42 seconds. Officials called this figure a reflection of the service’s efficiency.

Police officials said residents can seek help through Dial-112 for various emergencies. These include road accidents, criminal incidents, domestic disputes and complaints related to women’s safety.

Once a call is received, the nearest police team is dispatched immediately, officials said. The goal is to ensure assistance reaches people in the shortest possible time.

Dr Waquarib said the Dial-112 service undergoes regular review by senior officials. “The entire process, from call receipt to action and case resolution, is being monitored,” he said.

He added that this monitoring is aimed at further reducing average response time. Officials said continuous tracking helps identify gaps in the emergency response chain.

The August figures demonstrate the department’s commitment to reaching citizens quickly during emergencies, police said. Officers reiterated that swift and effective action remains a priority for the force.

Police have appealed to residents not to panic during emergencies. They urged people to dial 112 immediately and seek police assistance whenever needed.

Emergency response systems in Jamshedpur have seen incremental improvements over recent years. Besides Dial-112, the district has also strengthened patrolling in sensitive localities such as Bistupur and Sakchi.

Meanwhile, police in areas including Parsudih and Kadma have handled a range of crime and accident cases in recent months. On the other hand, officials say technology-driven systems like Dial-112 are helping reduce delays in emergency response across the city.
