GAMHARIA – A grand solo dance competition centred on patriotism and folk culture was organised at Sanskar Play School in Bhatia Basti, Adityapur, as part of Shiksha Saptah 2026. The event was hosted under the aegis of Bharat Sanskar Trust.
Internationally acclaimed dancer Dr Meenakshi Madhurima attended the event as chief guest and served as the competition’s judge. Meanwhile, senior citizens’ association president Ramchandra Paswan, Bharat Sanskar general secretary and ward councillor Dr Nathuni Singh, and organisation secretary Pramod Gupta were present as guests of honour.
The event began with the guests offering floral tributes before a portrait of Goddess Saraswati. Following the inauguration, the solo dance competition based on patriotic and folk themes got underway.
However, the audience remained thoroughly absorbed as one performance after another unfolded during the event. Participants from several schools across East Singhbhum, Seraikela and Sonua, as well as blocks in West Singhbhum, showcased their emerging talent at the competition.
The programme was presided over by the organisation’s president, Vinod Varshney, while vice-president S.D. Prasad conducted the proceedings. Dr Nathuni Singh, the general secretary, delivered the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the event.
In addition, the event was made successful with support from Sanskar Play School principal Urvashi, along with teachers Jyoti, Munmun, Akriti, Ria and Subir. Dance instructors Raj Jyoti Yog, Sunil, Anjana and Savitri also contributed to organising the competition.
Ronika, a student of Jusco School South Park in Jamshedpur, secured first place in the overall competition. Besides the top rank, results were also announced in the junior group category of the contest.
Ananya of Sanskar Play School won first place in the junior group, while Bhagyashree of DAV NIT stood second. Manavika of DAV NIT and Arohi of Odia High School shared the third position in the junior category.
Seraikela and surrounding areas regularly host inter-school cultural competitions during education-focused weeks, drawing participation from a wide catchment of institutions across the industrial belt. Similar events celebrating patriotic and folk traditions among students have periodically been organised across the city’s cultural circuit, alongside broader initiatives promoting classroom learning and student achievement in the region.
