Night Patrol Teams Told to Stay Alert, Crack Down on Gambling and Drugs

JAMSHEDPUR – The Senior Superintendent of Police of East Singhbhum turned up at the Telco police station late on Tuesday night without prior notice.
The station in-charge was present during the surprise inspection. All other concerned police officers were also on hand.
The SSP reviewed the working of the police station. Preparedness on the law and order front was examined as well.
Moreover, he looked into the night patrolling arrangements. A set of directions was then issued to the officers.
The teams on night duty were asked to stay especially active. These include the Tango mobile, the PCR and the station patrol party.
Besides, the SSP called for constant watch on loitering spots. Areas where suspicious people gather were also flagged.
He said such vigil would help check crime in time. Antisocial elements are to be kept under close observation.
In addition, he ordered a strict campaign against illegal gambling. The gambling dens in the area are to be targeted.
The drive will also cover the illegal lottery business. The drug trade has been brought under the same order.
He directed firm legal action against everyone involved in these activities. “No laxity at any level will be tolerated,” he said.
On the other hand, the police station inspection was part of routine supervision. Senior officers of the district carry out such checks from time to time.
The Telco police station area covers a large industrial township. It lies on the eastern edge of Jamshedpur.
