Anarchists will not stop now after having tasted blood, they will soon be demanding PM’s resignation too
The central government has just surrendered abjectly by wilting before a group of anarchists and blackmailers taking the entire country for a ride.
Those leading the so called agitation cannot be identified as students by any measure. And, for this very reason, the country’s future does not look very bright at this point.
While the so-called student movement led by anarchists coalescing in the name of the NEET paper leak fiasco was frittering away due to the inherent contradictions and the blatant disregard for rule of law, the government has just handed it more oxygen.
The anarchists have again tasted blood and this is not going to bode well for the government.
While the Narendra Modi government claims to be a strong government with a spine as was evidenced during Operation Sindoor, it also has a tendency to surrender abjectly at the first opportunity before a group of anarchists who work against the interests of the country and who resort to street violence.
Let us be honest. Dharmendra Pradhan is an incompetent minister. And he should have resigned much earlier.
However, buckling under mob pressure is no way to run a country.
No professional agitator should be encouraged to resort to such blackmail by threatening and perpetrating violence.
In our country, agitation and the display of dissatisfaction have been unnecessarily romanticized.
In a democracy, the place to show one’s dissatisfaction with a policy or a government’s incompetence is Parliament, not the streets or jantar mantar.
People elect their representatives and if they want to protest on some issue they should raise their voice inside the Parliament through their representatives or agitate before their representatives’ houses.
What is the use of democracy and elections, if mobs start deciding policies or governance models on the streets?
If agitation is the way to decide everything, what is wrong with Afghanistan or Taliban’s methods?
Democracy is not perfect. It can never be. But, it is still the best available way to govern a country. And the right to express ideas or even agitate comes with a clear rider – no violence against the state or its property can be allowed.
The Narendra Modi government had buckled before the mobs even during farmer agitation and Shaheen Bagh protests. It has done the same again.
While the BJP spokespersons and leaders would claim that the PM has done this to win the hearts of the agitators, they should start preparing for a new set of demands coming their way within a couple of days or weeks.
Anarchists, leftists, communists and Islamists are agitating and provoking the innocent students with a clear agenda.
Sadly, the central government, despite being aware of their agenda of regime change, has chosen to surrender before them.
The BJP establishment should remember this – the demand for the PM’s resignation too is loading and coming soon.
The government should get ready for that.
