Sixteen National Sports Medallists Feted at Annual Day-2026

JAMSHEDPUR – Toppers, national sports medallists and young performers were felicitated on Saturday as DAV Public School, Bistupur, marked its annual day at the XLRI Auditorium.
Sixteen students won medals at the DAV National Sports competition. They received gold, silver and bronze awards on Saturday.
Moreover, nine gold medallists got prize money of Rs 5,100 each. The DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi, funded that amount.
The occasion was the Super Achievers’ Award Ceremony and Annual Day-2026. DAV Public School hosted it at the XLRI Auditorium.
“Wings of Excellence” was the theme of the celebration. The school is managed by the DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi.
Rajiv Ranjan attended the function as chief guest. He is the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum.
The IAS officer received a floral welcome before his address. He urged students to pursue excellence with integrity.
Moreover, he asked them to build both intellect and character. He also spoke of responsible citizenship and nation-building.
Besides, he praised the school’s steady record in academics and sports. He asked the children to dream big and work hard.
Varun Bajaj, Chief-Corporate Services at Tata Steel, was also present. He is an executive member of the LMC.
Rotarian Vinod Menon and Bipin Rai attended as well. Rai is Principal cum ARO of Jharkhand Zone-G.
In addition, Shashi Kala of TATA DAV Public School, Noamundi, joined them. She is the headmistress there.
The programme opened with the DAV Gaan. Guests then lit the ceremonial lamp.
A welcome song and a welcome dance followed. Junior wing students performed the dance to loud applause.
Pragya Singh presented the annual report of the school. She is Principal of DAV Public School, Bistupur.
She also serves as ARO for DAV Public Schools, Jharkhand Zone E. Her report listed milestones in academics, sports and digital learning.
Moreover, she cited community service work of the past year. Competency-based learning and skill development formed part of her account.
She said sports participation and emotional well-being remained priorities. Her stated aim was to prepare future-ready learners.
“We are marking discipline and values today, not only marksheets,” she said. She added that excellence had to be built daily.
Besides, she thanked parents, teachers and students for their teamwork.
The cultural segment centred on passion and perseverance. Students staged the dance-drama in three scenes.
It traced a journey of determination, resilience and teamwork. Dance, dialogue and music carried the message of the piece.
Moreover, the acts addressed SDG-4, SDG-5 and SDG-10. These cover quality education, discrimination and systemic gaps.
A Jharkhand folk dance followed with energetic footwork. The costumes were bright and colourful.
Meanwhile, students sang the patriotic number “Duniya ki baatein vatan chor ke”. The song drew a warm response from the audience.
The prize distribution began with achievers in JEE Mains. Those who cleared JEE Advanced were felicitated next.
Awardees in NEET, CLAT and the NID category also came forward. Super Achievers of SSCE and SSE were then called.
Subject toppers were recognised for academic consistency. In addition, toppers of Std III to IX and XI were honoured.
Students with full attendance received awards for discipline. Every awardee got a certificate, a medal and a memento.
The Head Boy and Head Girl proposed the vote of thanks. The National Anthem followed the closing remarks.
Sweets were then distributed among guests, parents and students.
