Jamshedpur: A shocking firing incident in Kadma has raised fresh concerns over law and order in Jamshedpur, even as police carried out a late-night flag march ahead of the proposed July 3 bandh over the Himanshu Singh murder case.
According to police, the incident took place in Ramjanam Nagar, where an old rivalry and an argument over a gas cylinder allegedly turned violent. Two cousins reportedly assaulted local painter Sanjay Tandi before opening fire on him.
The bullet pierced through Sanjay’s jaw, leaving him critically injured. Despite his condition, he managed to collect the empty cartridge from the spot and reached MGM Hospital on his own for treatment.
After receiving information, Kadma police reached the hospital, recorded the victim’s statement, and inspected the crime scene. CCTV footage from the area is being examined to identify the sequence of events.
The victim has accused his neighbours and cousins, Krishna Sona and Anil Sona, of carrying out the attack. Police said raids are underway to arrest the accused, and further investigation is in progress.
The firing incident, which took place during an ongoing police flag march, has once again triggered debate over the city’s security and law-and-order situation.
