Five-Day Disaster Management Camp Underway at Dimna Lake

JAMSHEDPUR – A special training programme has begun at Dimna Lake to prepare Civil Defence volunteers for flood and disaster response during the upcoming monsoon season.

Preparations have intensified ahead of the monsoon in Jamshedpur. Authorities are focusing on flood and disaster readiness.

As part of the initiative, the National Disaster Response Force conducted a special training camp. The five-day programme is being held at Dimna Lake.

A total of 72 Civil Defence students are participating. The training is being conducted by the Patna unit of NDRF.

During the camp, participants are learning rescue techniques. The focus remains on flood and waterlogging situations.

Moreover, trainees are being taught how to conduct safe rescue operations. Instructors are also explaining emergency response procedures.

Meanwhile, students are receiving lessons in first aid. They are being trained to assist injured persons during disasters.

In addition, the programme covers evacuation techniques. Participants are learning how to move affected people to safer locations.

The trainers are also highlighting essential safety precautions. These measures are required during rescue operations.

Most participants belong to urban areas. However, the training extends beyond flood-related emergencies.

Moreover, students are receiving practical exposure to various disasters. Both natural and human-induced emergencies are being covered.

The programme aims to develop disaster-ready volunteers. Organisers are focusing on improving awareness and preparedness among youth.

Sub-Inspector Kabi Ranjan from the Patna NDRF unit addressed participants. He said similar programmes are being conducted nationwide.

According to him, the objective is to ensure trained volunteers remain available during emergencies. The initiative also seeks to strengthen safe rescue operations.

Meanwhile, he appealed to Civil Defence members to participate actively. He also encouraged ordinary citizens to join such programmes.

The training camp is being conducted at Jamshedpur‘s Dimna Lake area. Such preparedness exercises are commonly organised before the monsoon season to enhance community response capabilities.
