DHANBAD – An alleged fraudster was arrested in Dhanbad after reportedly collecting money from unemployed youths by promising railway jobs through fake claims of official connections.

A man accused of cheating job seekers was arrested in Dhanbad. The arrest was made by the Railway Protection Force.

The accused was later handed over to local police. Further investigation into the matter is underway.

The arrested individual was identified as Mantu Kumar. He is a resident of Bhatdih in Pathardih.

According to investigators, he introduced himself as a DRM office employee. Using that claim, he allegedly assured youths of railway employment.

Moreover, he reportedly collected substantial amounts from several people. Victims were allegedly promised jobs in different railway-related positions.

One complainant, Kalpana Rai of Burdwan, allegedly paid around Rs 1.5 lakh. She was reportedly promised work related to railway ticket vending machines.

Meanwhile, Suraj Bhan Thakur of Jamui allegedly lost Rs 18,700. He too was reportedly assured employment opportunities.

The case surfaced during another alleged recruitment attempt. Mantu Kumar had reportedly brought a youth to the DRM office.

However, the youth became suspicious of his activities. He immediately informed RPF officials about the matter.

Subsequently, an RPF team reached the location. The accused was detained and questioned by officials.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly admitted receiving money. He reportedly accepted taking funds in exchange for job promises.

Moreover, he cited financial difficulties during questioning. He stated that his family operated a shop selling worship materials.

However, police are verifying the accuracy of his statements. Investigators are examining all aspects of the case.

The accused was later handed over to local police. Further legal action will follow the investigation findings.

Meanwhile, police urged citizens to remain cautious. They advised verifying credentials before paying anyone for employment opportunities.

The incident occurred in Dhanbad, a major railway division headquarters. Authorities warned that fraudulent job offers often target unemployed youths seeking government employment.
