JTET 2026: Big Relief to Teacher Training Candidates, They Will Be Able to Take the Exam Even While Studying

Ranchi: The School Education and Literacy Department of Jharkhand has issued an important instruction regarding Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JTET) 2026. Under the new order, trainees studying in recognized teacher training institutes have also been allowed to appear in JTET 2026.

The Directorate of Primary Education has clarified that candidates pursuing teacher training courses in recognized institutions can apply for JTET 2026 under the “Pursuing” category.

The department said that it had received complaints that some institutes were not accepting applications from candidates undergoing training. Taking this matter seriously, the department has clarified the eligibility related position on the basis of the provisions of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and various decisions of the Supreme Court.

As per the instructions issued, candidates studying in Teacher Training Program (TTC) will be eligible to appear in JTET examination while continuing their studies. The order also mentions the decisions of the Supreme Court, in which it has been said that the candidates undergoing teacher training have the right to appear in the Teacher Eligibility Test.

The department has directed Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) to implement this order with immediate effect. It has also been indicated that if necessary, the last date of application can also be extended.

Officials believe that this decision will benefit a large number of teacher candidates preparing for JTET 2026 across the state and they will get an opportunity to appear in the examination.
