New facility set to boost healthcare in Kolhan division

JAMSHEDPUR – Chief Minister Hemant Soren is set to inaugurate the new 500-bed hospital at MGM Medical College’s Dimna premises.
The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for October 5.
Moreover, a helipad is being constructed on forest department land in Baliguma for the CM’s arrival.
East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal inspected the preparations on Thursday.
On the other hand, Health Minister Banna Gupta conducted a separate inspection on Wednesday.
The minister focused on the readiness of the Outpatient Department (OPD) services.
Furthermore, Gupta emphasized the importance of completing all construction work before the inauguration.
"This hospital will significantly elevate healthcare services in the region," a knowledgeable source stated.
Meanwhile, the new facility will boost MGM Medical College’s total bed capacity to 851.
This includes 131 ICU beds, 620 general beds, and a 100-bed critical care unit.
However, the hospital’s impact extends beyond Jamshedpur.
It aims to serve residents of the entire Kolhan division and surrounding districts.
In addition to the hospital inauguration, CM Soren has other development plans for the region.
He will lay the foundation stone for a bridge over the Swarnarekha River on October 4, 2024.
This bridge project will connect Litti Chowk to NH 33 at Bhilai Pahari.
Consequently, it’s expected to ease traffic congestion in Jamshedpur.
The bridge project, costing Rs 39.92 crore, includes a 4 km bridge and a 3.68 km approach road.
Besides improving healthcare, these projects aim to enhance overall infrastructure in the region.
M/s Satish Prasad of Ranchi has been awarded the contract for the bridge construction.
This development aligns with ongoing efforts to boost Jamshedpur’s urban and healthcare infrastructure.
