Local representatives and workers oppose move citing project efficiency concerns
The proposed relocation of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) office from Jamshedpur to Ranchi has ignited protests from local representatives and workers.
JAMSHEDPUR – MP representative Sanjeev Kumar, along with local workers, visited the current NHAI office in Jamshedpur to express strong opposition to the proposed move.
Kumar and his team held discussions with concerned officials, voicing concerns over the potential negative impact of closing the local office.
They argued that maintaining a local presence would enhance the implementation and inspection of projects, ensuring timely completion of schemes.
The representatives stressed that a local office would allow for prompt resolution of daily issues arising during project implementation, avoiding the need for officials and the public to travel to Ranchi for minor problems.
Kumar informed the Ranchi Regional Officer (RO) about the situation, stating that MP Bidyut Baran Mahato is in discussions with senior officials to address the matter.
He requested an immediate postponement of the office transfer.
The representatives were supported by BJP workers, including Ravindra Singh Sisodia, Mrityunjay Singh, Animesh Sinha, Rajesh Gupta, Anand Kumar, and Mukesh Giri, who joined the protest.
The proposed relocation of the NHAI office has raised concerns among local stakeholders, who fear it may hinder the efficient execution of highway projects in the region.
