A major Mahapanchayat was held in Barkagaon, Hazaribagh, as thousands of villagers reportedly gathered to oppose coal block activities and alleged administrative moves in support of the company.
Badam’s main market and several shops remained closed in support of the protest.
Farmers, workers and landholders said they would oppose land-related activities without their consent.
The movement has now announced a collective fasting day on October 2, while the committee says the protest will remain peaceful and democratic.
