GIRIDIH – Unidentified assailants shot dead a young man in broad daylight on Friday near the Hesla-Kapsa turn in the Bagodar police station area. The victim was identified as Mithilesh Yadav, a resident of Hesla.
The shooting occurred on the service road in the area, sending shock through the locality. Yadav died on the spot after being hit by the gunfire.
The attackers fled the scene immediately after the shooting. He reportedly ran a vehicle washing and servicing workshop in Hesla.
He was present near the Hesla-Kapsa turn on the service road when the assailants targeted him. A large crowd gathered at the spot soon after news of the killing spread.
Panic gripped the area as word of the shooting circulated among residents. Bagodar police reached the scene after being alerted and began assessing the situation.
Officers questioned people in the vicinity to gather details related to the incident. Bagodar MLA Nagendra Mahto and former MLA Vinod Singh also reached the spot.
DSP Dhananjay Ram and police inspector Ajay Kumar were also present at the scene. The officials inspected the site and gathered information from local residents.
Meanwhile, angry residents blocked the road following the killing. They alleged that criminals in the area have been growing bolder and demanded swift police action.
Protesters called for the immediate arrest of the killers and a full disclosure of the motive behind the murder. They also demanded justice for the victim’s family.
The road blockade disrupted traffic movement, causing a long queue of vehicles. Police officials attempted to calm the crowd and assured them the case was being treated seriously.
However, the motive behind the killing remains unclear at this stage. Investigators are examining possible angles, including personal disputes and old rivalries.
