Protest Over Alleged JPSC-JSSC Exam Irregularities Continues

RANCHI – Students carrying a nearly 800-metre-long tricolour took out a “Tiranga Yatra” in the state capital on Wednesday, marching through rain in support of their demands. The march formed part of an indefinite satyagraha protest being held at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium over alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC examinations.
The students walked from Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium to Albert Ekka Chowk carrying the tricolour, drawing attention to their cause even as rain continued through the demonstration.
Their central demand is the immediate cancellation of the 14th JPSC preliminary examination. They are also seeking a probe into the entire matter by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate.
The students further want the CBI to investigate alleged irregularities and lapses in both the JSSC and JPSC examinations. They are demanding strict legal action against those found responsible for jeopardising their future.
Among their other demands is the re-conduct of the competitive examination in a transparent and corruption-free manner. The agitation at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium has continued for an extended period as students press the state government to act on their concerns.
Student agitations over recruitment and examination fairness have recurred across the state in recent years — protests earlier flared when the Congress opened a front over enrollment fairness in private schools, while students separately staged a demonstration demanding better bus services. Youth-led movements have also targeted employment policy, as seen when people took to the streets over language in employment policy. Jharkhand’s political leadership has weighed in on such disputes before, including when opposition legislators met under Babulal Marandi to strategise ahead of assembly sessions, and when the state saw a broader political feud between the BJP and Congress over ED action against officers.
