RANCHI – A meeting of NDA legislators is underway at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s state office on Harmu Road, chaired by Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, ahead of the monsoon session of the Jharkhand Assembly. The session is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, August 6.
Legislators have gathered to chalk out a strategy for confronting the state government inside the House. Discussions are centring on issues facing agitating students, farmers’ grievances, and the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
The monsoon session will be held at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi. Opposition legislators are expected to raise these burning issues prominently once proceedings begin.
The meeting of the NDA legislature party includes BJP MLAs along with AJSU legislator Nirmal Mahato and LJP (Ramvilas) legislator Janardan Paswan. Their presence points to a coordinated opposition approach heading into the session.
Discussions at the gathering are also expected to touch on other matters likely to dominate debate in the assembly during the coming days. The opposition is preparing to press the government on multiple fronts once the session opens.
Monsoon sessions of the Jharkhand Assembly have often turned into platforms for sharp political confrontation over governance issues — a similar pattern was seen when the BJP and Congress traded accusations over IAS officers earlier. Farmers’ distress has also featured prominently in past sessions, including protests such as the one where Kisan Mahasabha rallied in support of farmers. Opposition mobilisation ahead of elections has been visible too, with the BJP earlier holding a strategy meeting in Jugsalai and senior leader inaugurating a party office in Jamshedpur. Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi continues to spearhead the NDA’s coordinated push this session.
