Tractor Hit Leads to Death, Road Blocked for Hours

JAMSHEDPUR – Two youths injured in a Patamda road accident died during treatment, triggering protests and a road blockade by angry villagers.
Two young men died after a severe road accident near Bamni village. The incident occurred under Patamda police limits.
However, both victims were riding a motorcycle on Tuesday. An uncontrolled tractor struck them suddenly.
Meanwhile, police reached the site soon after getting information. The injured were shifted to MGM Hospital for treatment.
However, both succumbed to injuries on Wednesday during treatment. Their deaths triggered anger among family members and locals.
The deceased were identified as Sumit Singh Sardar. He belonged to Balarampur area of Purulia district.
Meanwhile, the second victim was Sukhdev Sardar from Patamda. Both were traveling together during the accident.
In contrast, enraged villagers placed bodies on the Tata-Potka road. They blocked traffic demanding compensation.
Moreover, the blockade continued for nearly three hours. Vehicular movement remained completely disrupted during this period.
However, officials later reached the protest site for negotiations. The Patamda police in-charge joined discussions.
Meanwhile, the circle officer and local leader Muchiram Bawri also participated. Talks were held with agitating villagers.
Moreover, authorities assured immediate relief of Rs 20,000 each. A written promise was also given to villagers.
On the other hand, officials said a meeting will be held on April 18. The tractor owner will be called for compensation talks.
Moreover, efforts will be made to secure Rs 10 lakh each. The assurance helped calm the protesters.
However, villagers finally lifted the blockade after talks. Traffic movement returned to normal afterward.
Meanwhile, police have started an investigation into the accident. Further legal action is underway in the case.
