Demands Immediate Disbursement of Post-Matric Scholarship

MEDININAGAR – A delegation of the All India Students’ Association met District Welfare Officer Seva Ram Sahu on Thursday to demand the immediate disbursement of post-matric scholarship funds. Students have reportedly been facing academic hardships due to the delayed payments.
During the meeting, the district welfare officer acknowledged that the department currently lacks sufficient funds. He assured the delegation that once the government allocates the required amount, pending scholarships would be disbursed.
Scholarship Payment Backlog
AISA District President Guddu Bhuiyan revealed that for the 2022-23 financial year, 43,134 students applied for the scholarship, of which 33,481 received payments, leaving 9,134 applications pending.
For 2023-24, the number of applicants rose to 50,000, with 40,668 applications verified. However, only 21,408 students have received their scholarship payments, while 19,260 remain unpaid and 10,000 applications are still pending.
AISA Warns of Protest
The student organization demanded the approval and disbursement of all pending scholarships without delay. They warned that if the government fails to act soon, AISA would be compelled to launch an intense protest.
Additional Student Issues Raised
AISA District Secretary Gautam Kumar Dangi also highlighted another pressing concern—the lack of appointments for the Jharkhand Academic Council’s chairperson and vice-chairperson. He claimed this has led to major administrative hurdles, affecting admit card issuance and examination schedules for thousands of students.
The delegation included AISA State Council Member Abhay Singh, along with Sandip Yadav, Sunil Kumar, Anant Tiwari, and Rohit Kumar Yadav.
