The battery, commissioned in 1989, was a revolutionary innovation in coke-making. Over its lifetime, it produced more than 12 million tonnes of coke, contributing significantly to sustainable practices and industry benchmarks.

The decommissioning process will involve isolating the battery from the By-Product Plant’s gas network. Flaring will begin at 9:00 AM IST and continue for 24 hours, following standard safety protocols.
