Tata Steel Honoured with Six Awards at National Safety Conclave

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys and Minerals Division (FAMD) was honoured with six prestigious Kalinga Safety Excellence Awards at the 15th National Safety Conclave in Bhubaneswar.

Tata Steel’s plants and mines were recognized for their exemplary safety standards during the performance year 2023. The event, organized by the Institute of Quality and Environment Management Services (IQEMS), saw participation from leading industries.

FAP Athagarh and FAP Jajpur secured awards in the Platinum category, while FAP Bamnipal and FAP Jajpur also earned Gold category recognition. Additionally, Joda West Iron and Manganese Mines were awarded in the Platinum category, and Saruabil Chromite Mine received Gold.

Acknowledging Commitment to Safety

The awards were conferred by Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, in the presence of Lebohang Valentine Mochaba, High Commissioner of the Kingdom of Lesotho. Key Tata Steel representatives, including Thakur Ajay Kumar Vishwambharnath (Head Safety, Mines) and Kishore Baran Maity (Head Safety, FAP), accepted the awards.

Pankaj Satija, Executive-In-Charge (FAMD), expressed gratitude and reaffirmed Tata Steel’s dedication to safety. “We have always believed in sustaining a safe workplace for everyone, including contract workers. These awards bring greater responsibility to continue prioritizing safety, health, and well-being.”
