JAMSHEDPUR – The Department of Political Science at LBSM College, Jamshedpur, organized a one-day seminar on Human Rights Day on Tuesday. The event featured prominent speakers who discussed the history, importance, and current challenges of human rights across the world.

Dr. Vinay Kumar Singh, the keynote speaker, emphasized that human rights are not a modern concept. He noted that events like the French Revolution and the American Revolution laid the foundation for these rights. “The United Nations Charter provides a comprehensive analysis of human rights, and constitutions worldwide have incorporated these principles,” Dr. Singh explained. However, he pointed out ongoing violations globally, such as racial discrimination in developed countries like the USA and atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh.

Dr. Vinay Kumar Gupta introduced the seminar’s theme, highlighting the need for awareness and advocacy for human rights.

Meanwhile, Dr. Vijay Prakash, Head of the Commerce Department, drew attention to local issues. He termed the lack of teacher promotions under Kolhan University as a violation of educators’ human rights.

The seminar saw active participation from faculty and students. Notable attendees included Principal Dr. Ashok Kumar Jha, Dr. Deepanjay Srivastava, Dr. Vijay Prakash, Prof. Binod Kumar, Prof. Arvind Prasad Pandit, and Dr. Sanchita Bhui Sen.

The event underscored the importance of protecting human rights both globally and locally, calling for collective efforts to address ongoing violations.
