JAMSHEDPUR – Kolkata is set to host the world’s first World Athletics Gold Label 25K Race on December 15, 2024, starting from the historic Red Road.
The 9th edition of the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata was launched in the iconic Victoria Memorial, showcasing the city’s growing passion for running.
With registrations peaking across all categories, including the 10K and 25K, the event promises a stellar lineup of participants and activities.
The event offers prize money totaling $142,214, underscoring its global prestige.
Runners and Celebrities at the Forefront
Football star Sol Campbell, cricketing great Jhulan Goswami, and Tollywood actress Koushani Mukherjee will join thousands of runners in celebrating this historic occasion.
Chanakya Chaudhary of Tata Steel emphasized the race’s significance, stating it represents not only fitness but also resilience and community spirit.
Jhulan Goswami, named as the event’s Ratna, invited fitness enthusiasts to join her on race day, remarking, “The buzz around this unique event is a reflection of Kolkata’s energy and enthusiasm.”
Brigadier A.K. Das highlighted the Vijay Diwas Trophy’s importance, noting the military’s proud involvement in the running festival.

The race features unique events like the Vijay Diwas Trophy, contested by the Indian Armed Forces, and the Police Cup, showcasing the athletic spirit of Kolkata Police teams.
Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled will act as the Champions with Disability Facilitator, furthering their mission to empower differently-abled individuals.
Confirmed 25K participants will receive exclusive merchandise from T10 Sportswear, including race day tees.
The Mirchi Get Active Expo will be held at the Netaji Indoor Stadium on December 13 and 14, offering a hub for fitness enthusiasts to learn, prepare, and collect essential race materials.
