KOLKATA – The Secunderabad-Shalimar Superfast Express (Train No. 22850) experienced a derailment near Nawlapur Railway Station, close to Howrah, West Bengal, on Saturday morning.

The derailment, which occurred around 5 a.m., involved three coaches—two passenger coaches and one parcel van.

According to Om Prakash Chauran, Chief Public Relations Officer of South Eastern Railway, no injuries or fatalities have been reported as a result of the incident.

The train was en route from Secunderabad to Shalimar when the derailment took place, causing disruption in rail services across the region.

Following the derailment, several train services from Tatanagar and nearby stations were either canceled or rerouted to avoid further delays and passenger inconvenience.

Local officials were quick to respond, dispatching teams to assess the derailment site and ensure track clearance at the earliest.

Efforts are underway to restore normal rail operations, although it is anticipated that delays may continue in the affected areas throughout the day.

Passengers have been advised to check for updates on diverted routes and cancellations as rail authorities work to mitigate disruption.
