Election Controversy Erupts Over Shop Allotments in Jamshedpur

MLA Saryu Roy demands transparency in tin shed shop distribution process

Key Points:

• Saryu Roy raises alarm over arbitrary shop allotments in Kadma

• Concerns about misuse of power by Health Minister’s family surface

• Deputy Commissioner urged to maintain status quo until after elections

JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy has called for a halt to alleged arbitrary allotments of newly constructed tin shed shops near Kadma’s Tata Workers Union School.

Roy voiced his concerns in a letter to the East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner.

The MLA’s action follows complaints from local shopkeepers during his recent visit.

Moreover, a disabled vendor reported being denied allocation unfairly.

Allegations surfaced of the Health Minister’s family distributing shops arbitrarily.

Furthermore, some shopkeepers claimed they were asked to pay extra fees for allotment.

Roy demanded an immediate end to these practices.

Meanwhile, questions arose about the project’s funding source and legality.

The MLA noted that neither Tata Steel nor JNAC officials knew about the funding.

In addition, Roy suggested merging adjacent shops to provide more space for vendors.

He expressed concern over the excessive number of shops being constructed.

"The allotment process must be fair and transparent," a local business owner remarked.

On the other hand, Roy emphasized the need to follow proper procedures.

The approaching Jharkhand Assembly elections add urgency to the situation.

Roy urged maintaining the status quo until after the Model Code of Conduct period.

"The administration must ensure equal opportunities for all displaced vendors," another businessman stated.

The controversy highlights the need for clear guidelines in public project allocations.
