Kolhan University Decision-Making Paralyzed by Delays

Key issues remain unresolved as university awaits Raj Bhawan approval

Key Points:

• PhD results, convocation, and student elections pending for months

• University lacks Vice-Chancellor and Pro Vice-Chancellor

• Students protest unresolved academic and infrastructure issues

JAMSHEDPUR – Kolhan University finds itself in a state of paralysis, unable to make crucial decisions on student-related matters due to prolonged delays in approvals from Raj Bhawan.

Several key issues have been pending for months, including PhD entrance exam results and convocation dates.

Moreover, the university has not held student union elections for six years.

Subodh Mahakud, former secretary of the Kolhan University Student Union, expressed deep concern over the situation.

He emphasized that student demands, particularly for union elections, have been ignored for years.

Furthermore, the absence of a Vice-Chancellor and Pro Vice-Chancellor has left many decisions in limbo.

Even routine academic matters, such as scheduling delayed generic subject exams, remain unresolved.

Meanwhile, students have protested the delays and raised concerns about inadequate campus facilities.

Dr. Rajendra Bharti, Registrar of Kolhan University, acknowledged the unfortunate circumstances.

He stated that the university has repeatedly written to Raj Bhawan but is bound by current limitations.

On the other hand, students highlight issues like lack of drinking water and proper sanitation on campus.

These basic problems, coupled with academic concerns, have left the student body increasingly frustrated.

A local educationist commented, "This paralysis is severely impacting the university’s academic environment."

For now, all major decisions regarding university affairs remain on hold until after the elections.
