BJP’s ‘Gogo Didi Yojana’ Sparks Political Controversy

JMM accuses BJP of violating election rules with women’s welfare scheme

Key Points:

• JMM objects to BJP’s ‘Gogo Didi Yojana’ promising Rs 2,100 monthly to women

• Chief Minister orders strict enforcement of Election Commission guidelines

• BJP dismisses objections, vows to continue scheme promotion

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has raised allegations against the BJP for flouting election rules with its new women’s welfare scheme.

The BJP’s ‘Gogo Didi Yojana’ promises Rs 2,100 monthly to women if the party wins upcoming elections.

JMM leaders claim the distribution of scheme forms violates Election Commission of India (ECI) regulations.

On social media platform X, JMM questioned BJP’s apparent ability to bypass electoral rules.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has directed Deputy Commissioners to enforce EC guidelines strictly.

Several district administrations have issued public notices warning against the non-government scheme.

However, BJP state president Babulal Marandi dismissed these actions as unconstitutional.

He accused the Soren government of feeling threatened by growing public support for BJP.

Marandi emphasized that ‘Gogo Didi Yojana’ aims to empower women economically and socially.

The scheme is part of BJP’s broader ‘Panch Pran’ (five vows) initiative.

Furthermore, Marandi claimed JMM-led government is creating hurdles to block this welfare initiative.

He alleged false legal implication of BJP workers to discourage scheme promotion.

Despite potential legal or physical intimidation, BJP workers vow to continue their mission undeterred.

Marandi declared he would personally join in mobilizing women to fill scheme forms.

The controversy highlights growing political tensions ahead of the upcoming Jharkhand elections.

Both parties accuse each other of manipulating public sentiment for electoral gains.

As the debate intensifies, the Election Commission’s stance on the matter remains unclear.

The situation underscores the complex interplay between welfare promises and electoral regulations in Indian politics.
