Hemant Soren Challenges BJP’s Women’s Welfare Promise

CM urges PM to boost state’s Mainya Samman Yojana by ₹1,100

Key Points:

• Soren asks Centre to add ₹1,100 to state’s women’s welfare scheme

• CM demands written resolution from PM on scheme enhancement

• Soren questions BJP’s ₹2,100 monthly promise to women in Jharkhand

JAMSHEDPUR – Chief Minister Hemant Soren has publicly challenged the BJP’s recent welfare promise for women in Jharkhand through a social media post.

The CM urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to augment the state’s existing Mainya Samman Yojana. "Adding ₹1,100 to our current ₹1,000 monthly benefit would match BJP’s promise," a government spokesperson explained.

Moreover, Soren demanded a written resolution from the PM regarding this proposed enhancement. He expressed concerns about potential attempts to terminate the scheme through legal means.

Furthermore, the CM highlighted disparities in similar schemes across states. "In Orissa, the benefit is only ₹830 monthly for five years," a social welfare expert noted.

In addition, Soren addressed the issue of outstanding funds owed to Jharkhand. He urged the Centre to return ₹1.36 lakh crore, citing a recent Supreme Court order.

On the other hand, the CM proposed an alternative plan. "We could provide ₹2,500 monthly to every Jharkhandi woman aged 18-50 years," a state official elaborated.

Meanwhile, Soren called for an end to what he termed "false statements" and discrimination between women of different states. His post emphasized the need for nationwide implementation of such welfare schemes.

However, the CM’s challenge comes in response to BJP’s manifesto promise. The opposition party had pledged ₹2,100 monthly to women under their proposed Gogo Didi scheme.

In conclusion, this social media exchange has intensified the debate on women’s welfare schemes in Jharkhand, bringing national attention to the issue.
