Tata Steel UISL investigating cause of fish mortality

JAMSHEDPUR – Unusual fish deaths at Jayanti Sarovar have prompted an investigation by Tata Steel UISL, raising concerns about the lake’s health.

Fish mortality has been observed at Jayanti Sarovar in Jubilee Park.

The deaths primarily affect tilapia fish, causing alarm among local residents and environmentalists.

Moreover, the timing of these fatalities is unusual, occurring outside the typical summer season.

Tata Steel UISL, which manages the lake, has confirmed the unprecedented nature of this event.

"This has not been witnessed in past years," stated a company representative.

In response, Tata Steel UISL has assigned a team of experts to investigate the cause.

Previously, the company had implemented several preventive measures to combat fish mortality.

These efforts included algae removal and chemical spraying to maintain water quality.

Additionally, therapeutic chemicals were applied to prevent fish diseases and boost their resilience.

Furthermore, regular removal of overpopulating tilapia fish was carried out to maintain ecological balance.

However, despite these interventions, the sudden onset of fish deaths has raised new concerns.

"We are currently investigating the cause," the company assured in a press communique.

On the other hand, the effectiveness of previous measures during summer months was noted.

No significant fish deaths were observed during the typical high-risk period.

Meanwhile, local residents and environmental groups are closely monitoring the situation.

Jayanti Sarovar’s importance as both a recreational spot and aquatic habitat has heightened concerns.

"The lake’s health is crucial for our community," remarked a concerned local resident.

In conclusion, the ongoing investigation is expected to reveal the underlying causes of this unusual event.
