JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel Zoological Park (TSZP) has kicked off a robust cleanliness drive as part of the nationwide ‘Swachhata Hi Seva, 2024’ campaign.

The initiative, inaugurated by senior zoo officials, aims to promote hygiene and environmental sustainability within the premises.

Moreover, the drive emphasizes the zoo’s commitment to providing a clean environment for visitors and animals alike.

Dr. Naim Akhtar and Dr. Manik Palit, Deputy Directors of TSZP, led the inauguration ceremony.

Furthermore, dedicated teams were deployed to clean enclosures, walkways, and visitor areas.

The staff focused on disinfecting high-traffic zones and implementing eco-friendly waste management practices.

Additionally, the zoo organized health camps for its staff and outsourced workers.

These camps, conducted in collaboration with local organizations, included eye and general health check-ups.

Meanwhile, 30 people participated in the eye check-up, with 3 diagnosed for cataracts and 10 recommended for spectacles.

On the other hand, 35 individuals underwent general health screenings.

Consequently, 8 people were diagnosed with high sugar levels and 4 with high blood pressure.

"This campaign is about instilling environmental responsibility," a zoo spokesperson stated.

The health camps were warmly received by the marginal income group workers at the zoo.
