JAMSHEDPUR – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) observed Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on Wednesday in Jamshedpur, with a gathering at East Bengal Colony, Sitaramdera.
The event was led by BJP Jamshedpur Metropolitan President Sudhanshu Ojha, with former Chief Minister Arjun Munda, former MLA and BJP State Vice President Barkunwar Gagrai, State Minister Nandji Prasad, and Sitaramdera Mandal President Suresh Sharma among those present.
Tributes and Reflections
During the event, BJP leaders paid homage to those who lost their lives during the partition and remembered the suffering and struggles of those who were displaced.
Sudhanshu Ojha stated that Partition Horrors Remembrance Day is an opportunity to respectfully remember all Indians who lost their lives due to the country’s division.

In his address, former Chief Minister Arjun Munda emphasized the importance of understanding why the partition occurred and the need for the current generation to be fully informed about history.
He highlighted that the seeds of division were sown as early as 1906 with the formation of the Muslim League, leading to the eventual creation of Pakistan in 1930.
He spoke of the immense tragedy of the partition, which resulted in the deaths of millions, widespread sexual violence, and the displacement of millions who were forced to flee their ancestral lands.
Personal Accounts
Charanjit Kharbanda and Bimal Karmakar, who were displaced during the partition, shared their harrowing experiences, recounting the constant fear and terror they lived through.
The event also saw participation from several local BJP leaders, including District General Secretary Anil Modi and Minority Morcha President Manjeet Singh.
