JAMSHEDPUR – A large tree fell on the back door of a house in Dhatkidih Mukhi Basti, Jamshedpur, trapping the family inside and causing fear among the residents.

Senior journalist Anni Amrita was informed late Thursday evening by the locals that the tree had fallen during heavy rain and was posing a significant threat to the family of Manju Devi.

Upon visiting the site, Anni found the tree blocking the back door of the house, with the family in a state of panic.

Fortunately, no one was near the door when the tree fell, avoiding a potential disaster.

Despite the urgency, no action had been taken for several days, prompting the residents to seek Anni’s help.

Anni immediately took photos of the scene and contacted Rakesh Pandey, Head of Corporate Communication at Tata Steel UISL (formerly JUSCO).

She also tweeted the images to the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum and Tata Steel, ensuring the issue received immediate attention.

Despite the late hour, the Deputy Commissioner acted swiftly, directing the relevant authorities to address the situation.

Rakesh Pandey from Tata Steel UISL and Suburban Commissioner Krishna Kumar from JNAC assured Anni that the problem would be resolved.

On Friday, a team from Tata Steel and the local administration arrived at the site and began removing the tree, a task that continued until late evening.

Anni monitored the work, ensuring the area was made safe.

She also visited the affected family along with Mukhi community members Chetan Mukhi, Brajesh Mukhi, and Sanjay Kansari, who thanked her for her intervention.

Manju Devi expressed her gratitude, explaining how the family had been living in fear, especially with branches hanging dangerously over power lines.

Chetan Mukhi praised Anni for her consistent efforts in highlighting the issues of the Mukhi community and other local concerns through her journalism.

Anni called on Tata Steel UISL to identify other vulnerable areas in the city where trees might pose similar risks, urging proactive measures to prevent accidents during heavy rains.
