Workshop at NIT Jamshedpur Highlights Ancient Astrological Systems and Cultural Heritage

NIT Jamshedpur hosted a workshop titled "Know Your India through Traditional Indian Knowledge System" on May 17, 2024. The event explored the integration of cultural and spiritual values into education.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) at NIT Jamshedpur held a one-day workshop on May 17, 2024, focusing on traditional Indian knowledge.

The workshop began with the lighting of the lamp by Honourable Director Prof. Gautam Sutradhar, esteemed chief guest Pandit Ram Narayan Sharma, Dr. Om Prakash Pandey, Prof. Shalendra Kumar, and Prof. Ram Vinay Sharma.

Prof. Gautam Sutradhar, in his welcome address, stressed the need to embed Indian cultural and spiritual values within the educational framework.

He emphasized the role of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in promoting India’s rich cultural heritage.

Pandit Ram Narayan Sharma, a noted astrologer, discussed the ancient astrological system and its relevance today.

He explained the 16 samskaras in Indian tradition and their influence on human life and actions.

Dr. Om Prakash Pandey delved into the mysteries of the universe as described in the Nasadiya Sukta from the Rigveda.

He questioned the origins of creation, referencing the supreme Brahman as the all-knowing force.

Dr. Prem Lata Devi highlighted the significant role of women in traditional Indian systems.

She discussed their esteemed roles in ancient times and their relevance today.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Manish Kumar Jha, Convener of IKS, who thanked all participants and speakers for their contributions.
