Girls Outshine Boys in ICSE Exams, while Boys Dominate ISC Results; Schools from Indonesia, Singapore, and Dubai Achieve 100% Pass Rate
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has released the much-awaited results for the Indian School Certificate (ISC) and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) exams, with students now able to access their scorecards on the official website, cisce.org.
JAMSHEDPUR – The ICSE and ISC exams, conducted earlier this year, have yielded impressive overall pass percentages of 99.47% and 98.19%, respectively.
Out of the 2,43,617 students who appeared for the ICSE exam, a remarkable 2,42,328 successfully cleared it.
The gender breakdown reveals that 1,30,506 boys and 1,13,111 girls passed the ICSE exam, with boys accounting for 53.57% of the passing candidates and girls representing 46.43%.
ISC Exams: Boys Outperform Girls
In the ISC exam, 99,901 students appeared, of which 98,088 emerged victorious.
Interestingly, unlike other boards where girls often outshine boys, the CISCE exams saw boys outnumbering girls, with 52,765 boys (52.82%) and 47,136 girls (47.18%) passing the ISC exam.
Schools Achieve 100% Pass Percentage
The ICSE exam witnessed the participation of 2,695 schools, with an impressive 82.48% (2,223) of them achieving a perfect 100% pass percentage.
The exam was conducted across 2,503 examination centers and evaluated at 709 centers.
Similarly, in the ISC examination, out of the 1,366 participating schools, 66.18% (904) attained a 100% pass percentage.
The ISC exam was held at 1,285 exam centers and evaluated at 887 centers.
Gender Disparity in Performance
Despite the overall success, a notable gender disparity emerged in the performance of students.
In the ICSE exams, girls outperformed boys, securing a pass percentage of 99.65% compared to the boys’ 99.31%.
However, in the ISC exams, boys took the lead, achieving a pass percentage of 97.53%, while girls scored 98.92%.
International Schools Excel
International schools made their mark in the CISCE exams, with schools from Indonesia, Singapore, and Dubai achieving a perfect 100% pass percentage in the ICSE exams (class 10).
In the ISC exams (class 12), schools from Singapore and Dubai showcased exemplary performance.
Exam Details and Previous Year’s Results
The ICSE examination, encompassing 60 written subjects, including 20 Indian languages, 13 foreign languages, and one classical language, commenced on February 21 and concluded on March 28, spanning 18 days.
The ISC examination, featuring 47 written subjects, including 12 Indian languages, four foreign languages, and two classical languages, began on February 12 and ended on April 4, conducted over 28 days.
In the previous year, 2023, 98.94% of students cleared the ICSE exams, while 96.93% passed the ISC exams, with girls outperforming boys in both classes.
As students eagerly access their provisional results online, the original marksheets will be provided by their respective schools at a later date.
The CISCE is also set to release the list of toppers from classes 10 and 12 across the country, highlighting the exceptional achievements of the top-performing students in India.
