South Karandih Gram Panchayat Initiates Cleanliness Drive

Women-led dream team starts work to make the panchayat clean and beautiful

In a significant development, the South Karandih Gram Panchayat under the Jamshedpur block of Lohanagari has begun a cleanliness drive, a task that had been long overdue. Karandih Chowk, often referred to as the small capital of Jharkhand, was grappling with filth and unhygienic conditions in its streets and surroundings.

JAMSHEDPUR – The South Karandih Gram Panchayat in Jamshedpur block, Lohanagari, has initiated a cleanliness drive led by a women’s dream team, aiming to transform the area into a clean and beautiful panchayat.

Motivated by the unsanitary conditions, the rural women of the panchayat resolved to take action and, after three months of dedicated efforts, formally commenced the cleanliness work on Thursday.

The inauguration program was attended by Panchayat village head Salkhu Soren, Mukhiya Sangh general secretary Kanhu Murmu, Joba Mardi, Panchayat committee member Ravi Bhushan Kurli, and Jogmanjhis from all tolas, who together showed the green flag to officially launch the initiative.

Dream Team General Secretary Singo Kisku, Treasurer Kokila Murm, Vice President Sangeeta Hansda, Sunita Soren, Secretary Saraswati Sundi, Lakshmi Hansda, Seema Hansda, Chhita Hansda, Champa Murmu, Maino Murmu, Shakuntala Hansda, Basanti Tudu, Anjana Tape, Chandni Tape, Bhunda Hansda, and Tata Steel Foundation Fellow Ajay Kumar played crucial roles in kickstarting the cleanliness drive.

The women’s dream team’s tireless efforts over the past three months have laid the groundwork for transforming the panchayat into a clean and hygienic environment for the residents.

The cleanliness drive aims to address the long-standing issues of filth and unhygienic conditions in the streets and surroundings of Karandih Chowk, which had earned it the nickname of being the small capital of Jharkhand.

The initiative taken by the South Karandih Gram Panchayat serves as an inspiring example of how community-driven efforts, especially those led by women, can bring about positive change and improve the living conditions in rural areas.
