Shock & Grief at Loss of 3 Lives in Tragic Mudslide in Baharagora

Devastating Incident Occurs During Soil Excavation Operation, Prompting Condolences and Calls for Safety Measures

In a heart-wrenching incident, three women laborers lost their lives, and six others sustained injuries after being buried under mud during a soil excavation operation in Baharagora, East Singhbhum district. The tragedy has sparked an outpouring of grief from political leaders and the local community, with calls for stringent safety measures and support for the affected families.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tragedy struck the East Singhbhum district on Wednesday when a devastating mudslide claimed the lives of three women laborers and left six others injured during a soil excavation operation in the Baharagora block area.

The incident unfolded near Kokmara village along the Chakulia-Baharagora main road, where laborers were engaged in digging white soil for packaging and house coating purposes.

Eyewitnesses Paint a Grim Picture

Local residents who witnessed the horrifying ordeal recounted the sudden subsidence of soil that entrapped several laborers, leading to a chaotic scene filled with screams for help and frantic rescue efforts.

"The sight was gut-wrenching as we helplessly watched the laborers reel in pain, trapped under the mud," a visibly shaken eyewitness shared.

Swift Response from Authorities

Upon receiving news of the tragedy, Baharagora police station in-charge Vikas Kumar and Circle Officer Bhole Shankar Mahato swiftly arrived at the scene to coordinate rescue efforts alongside the administration and local residents.

The injured laborers were promptly extricated from the mud and rushed to the Baharagora Community Health Center, where three were tragically pronounced dead on arrival.

Political Leaders Express Grief and Solidarity

Jamshedpur MP Bidhyut Baran Mahto conveyed his profound shock and sorrow over the incident, assuring all possible assistance to those affected.

Former state BJP president Dr. Dineshanand Goswami echoed the sentiment, stating, "I pray to God to place those who lost their lives at His feet and grant speedy recovery to the injured."

Community Mourns and Demands Action

Baharagora MLA Sameer Mohanty visited the site to offer condolences and support to the bereaved families and injured laborers.

"This heart-wrenching tragedy underscores the urgent need for stringent safety measures in all manual labor operations," MLA Mohanty emphasized, pledging a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the incident.

The district officials too expressed deep sadness over the loss of lives and reaffirmed their commitment to providing necessary assistance to the affected families while ensuring proper medical care for the injured.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of this devastating incident, the focus now shifts towards preventing such tragedies in the future and rallying support for those left bereaved and wounded.
