Tata Steel inaugurates a Geological Centre and showcases technological innovations at TechEx 2024 in Jamshedpur.

JAMSHEDPUR – In a tribute to Jamsetji Tata on his 185th birth anniversary, Tata Steel has unveiled a Geological Centre named after geologist P N Bose.

CEO T V Narendran led the inauguration, marking a significant addition to India’s geological research capabilities.

Located in Jamshedpur, the centre focuses on the geological wealth of Odisha and Jharkhand.

It aims to deepen understanding of Earth’s history through the study of rocks, minerals, and fossils.

The facility also celebrates Tata Steel’s mining history and the contributions of its geologists and engineers.

As a major player in mining, Tata Steel’s new centre highlights the geology vital for steel production.

Exhibits pay homage to P N Bose and showcase Tata Steel’s resources in iron ore, manganese, and more.

The initiative was inspired by Dr T Mukherjee, with contributions from the family of the late Dr J J Irani.

Additionally, Narendran inaugurated the i-MEC and i-CPROC at Tata Steel Jamshedpur Works.

These centres are part of Tata Steel’s push towards digitalisation for improved monitoring and operations.

TechEx-2024, the 14th Technical Exhibition, also kicked off, displaying 41 projects from industry and academia.

Running from February 2-5, TechEx is open to the public, offering a glimpse into innovative solutions for the steel industry.

Activities at TechEx include face painting, quizzes, and talent hunts, aiming to engage visitors of all ages.

The event is a platform for trainees to showcase their technical prowess to a wide audience.

TechEx encourages public participation, inviting visitors to explore technological advancements and support young talents.
