Tata Steel Zoological Park Marks 34th Foundation Day

Jamshedpur Zoo Celebrates with Educational Initiatives and Upgrades

Tata Steel Zoological Park in Jamshedpur commemorates its 34th Foundation Day, highlighting its shift from recreation to education and conservation, with a new master plan for upgrades and a 15-day educational program on animal welfare.

JAMSHEDPUR – The zoo’s evolution from a recreational spot for Tata Steel workers to a center for environmental education and wildlife conservation was emphasized during the celebrations.

A new master plan is being implemented at the zoo, focusing on comprehensive upgrades, including new animal enclosures, a veterinary hospital, and additional attractions for visitors.

The event saw the participation of 350 children and students from TSUISL operated South Park School, Rajendra Balika Madhya Vidyalaya Parsudih, local NGO Anwesha, and Tarapore School, Jamshedpur.

The cake-cutting ceremony, a part of the celebration, involved kids and students, supported by the zoo’s management.

JACAPCPL, a key partner in the development of the zoo, was present during the celebration, signifying their substantial contribution to the zoo’s growth.

The 34th Foundation Day also marked the launch of a 15-day Education Program on Animal Welfare, including lectures on wildlife conservation, interactive sessions, and keeper talks.

Zoo employees were recognized and honored for their dedication to animal care and zoo management, receiving gift vouchers as a token of appreciation.

Initially established in 1990 and inaugurated in 1994, the Tata Steel Zoological Park has become a pivotal institution in Jamshedpur for raising awareness on issues like wildlife conservation, pollution, environmental challenges, and climate change.
