Bachendri Pal Leads 14 Fearless Women on an 18-Day Expedition in Arunachal Pradesh, Challenging Age and Gender Stereotypes
Tata Steel Adventure Foundation, in collaboration with the Indian Army, embarks on a groundbreaking 18-day expedition led by Bachendri Pal, promoting active aging and defying stereotypes in the terrain of Arunachal Pradesh.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a compelling move to challenge age norms and promote active lifestyles, Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) has launched the Fit@50+ ‘Summits and Steering Wheels’ expedition today.
Led by renowned mountaineer, Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awardee, Bachendri Pal, the 550-km journey involves 14 women aged 50 and above trekking and off-roading in the remote terrains of Arunachal Pradesh.
The adventure is slated to begin on October 12 from the town of Dirang and is inspired by India’s Fit India Movement, initiated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in 2019.
Bachendri Pal expressed her vision saying, "In the heart of Arunachal’s landscapes, we will discover that dreams do not age, and the spirit of exploration knows no bounds."
Chanakya Chaudhary, Chairman of TSAF, affirmed that age is not a barrier to pursuing extraordinary feats.
The expedition not only promises adventure but also serves as a platform for border, cultural, heritage, and battlefield tourism.
The Indian Army will provide active ground support, focusing on the historical Bailey’s trail and various challenging terrains including Bum La, Damteng Mago.
The expedition will pass through iconic locations such as the highest point of Bailey’s trail at Tse La pass, and the Easternmost village of India which sees the first rays of the sun.
