Former MLA Exposes Illegal Sand Lifting, Calls for Action; Road Conditions Impact Children’s Access to Anganwadi Center

State BJP Spokesperson Visits Jamshedpur’s Gudabandha, Exposes Sand Smuggling, Urges Government to Act

JAMSHEDPUR – The activity of sand mafia in the riverine areas of East Singhbhum district is causing turmoil among the local populace.

Despite being well known, smugglers continue illegal lifting of sand even in broad daylight, leading to allegations of political patronage.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a fierce attack on the state government, accusing it of corruption in relation to sand smuggling.

On Friday, state BJP spokesperson and former Baharagora MLA Kunal Sarangi visited Kenduapal village of Gudabandha block, exposing the issue of sand smuggling and accusing the state government of protecting the sand mafia.

Sarangi has also demanded action against the local police station in-charge, who allegedly ignored the villagers’ complaints.

He challenged the district administration to visit Kunduapal village and highlighted the difficulty caused by a thick layer of sand on the roads, affecting both walking and vehicular movement.

Releasing a video, Sarangi brought the villagers’ problems to the attention of DC Manjunath Bhajantri, questioning when the illegal sand game would stop.

While visiting an Anganwadi center, he questioned the centre operator about the low attendance of children, learning that a thick layer of sand on the PCC road was preventing small children from reaching the center.

Highlighting this issue, the former MLA raised significant questions on the system, accusing the government of prioritizing protection for smugglers over education for children.

Rural women and children are reportedly facing the consequences of the ignorance and silence of responsible government officials.

Sarangi has requested immediate action from the district’s Deputy Commissioner and SSP, stating that the BJP is sensitive about the matter, and plans to submit a demand letter after meeting the Chief Secretary of the state.
